Hi there,

Just wondering if it is possible to link learning content (any type, such as practical assessments, courses, or group training) to assets?

For example, learning content available, as well as completion data being viewed independently under the assets profile.

Thank you

Thanks Katie - what’s your ideal workflow looks like here? For instance, would you like workers to have completed that learning content before they can operate the asset?

Hi Giustina,

Thank you for the reply! Essentially yes - it would be driven by the requirement that workers must complete training pertaining to an asset, before being able to use the asset.

A use case example would be our restaurant employees requiring training to operate, clean, and maintain various kitchen or bar equipment (e.g., grills, ovens, dishwashers, glasswashers, ice machines etc).

What the functionality could look like

Assets having a Training tab:

  • When viewing an asset profile (e.g., "Combi oven"), there could be a section displaying all relevant (linked) training content
  • It could detail any courses, practical assessments, and group training sessions
  • Ideally, this link could be configured using a setting under the course settings page itself (e.g. “Link training to an asset”), as well as having the ability to link it at the point of creating an asset

Training Completion Data at the Asset Level:

  • Each asset profile could show the list of employees that have the asset training assigned to them, as well as whether they have completed it or not
  • It would help managers to quickly check whether an employee has completed (or not completed) the necessary training before they are assigned to use the equipment

Reporting:

  • The ability to generate reports that show training completion rates for each asset, directly from the asset page would again help save time for Managers seeking specific information quickly (as well as being available under Training Analytics)

Why it would be helpful:

  • Ensures employees are properly trained before using high-value equipment that can potentially be misused and damaged
  • Helps verify that all employees handling an asset have completed the required training from a safety & compliance perspective
  • Keeps the tracking of who is trained on which equipment centralised, which in our case would be helpful for the Procurement team, and WHS Manager especially in the case of following up after equipment breakdowns & injury

Thanks, Giustina!
