@Duncan.
With regards to the Assets improvements.
The servicing I was looking at was important in a few areas as it addresses the date requirement either for testing or servicing and once set (unless changed) per asset category it is absolute.
Therefore, there are triggers required to be added when added asset types.
These are then used throughout the life cycle of the asset.
Once in place this gives full transparency and the control required for an asset.
The triggers that are date / frequency related should also imo be applied to other areas of assets.
An example being what I have explained before with regards to the Asset Type having its own colour code.
RED (High)
AMBER (Med)
GREEN (Low)
This could be based on the complexity, risk or aspects the asset can have it was to fail, leaving the company vulnerable to loss in some way shape or form.
- Monetary
- Time
- Incident
- Environmental
- Delays
The 2 are linked with date addition for serving / inspections and the colour coding (traffic light system) for asset types.
- The above creates controls.
- Give transparency
- Highlight gaps / threats
- Promotes preventative measures including maintenance
At the moment with assets, SC has improved this with additional things added that mostly relate from what I have seen to vehicular or similar assets.
In manufacturing and construction industries there are many smaller asset including mobile plant and machinery / equipment that requires other evaluations, calibration, servicing, legal examinations (TeXT) etc.
These account in our fleet to 95% plus and are active and used all the items hence the drive and ambition to get the visualisation and triggers as explained.
It is important that the asset process is also interlinked to the other areas of SC.
We have this with our templates linked to the assets so we can understand what has / is inspected and is it within a duration we have set.
Has mentioned earlier when service dates, dropdown options etc are added then we will have the ability to link…
- Gaps
- Training
- Heads Up
- Credentials
- Users
- Inspections
- Issues
Etc to assets.
Hope this makes sense.
