Idea
Please consider the ability to acquire the location of an issue from the location metadata (EXIF or similar) that might be available in photos submitted by an issue reporter.
Rationale
- Not all issue reporters may have a SafetyCulture account or the app to accurately capture the location of an issue where it is witnessed.
- Not all reporters might have access to a SafetyCulture issue “QR code” where the issue is initially witnessed.
- Not all reporters are in environmental conditions where they can fully initiate and complete an issue report while executing their role. In those cases, it is more reasonable to ask staff to take a quick photo, then report the issue when conditions are more favorable.
- Some users are averse to granting a “work application” access to their location. Acquiring the location through submitted photo metadata (where the user has granted their personal camera app the ability to acquire their location) would be a fairly reasonable middle ground.
- The web interface for setting a location in SafetyCulture relies on the “Default View” of Google Maps. Depending upon the age and type of the enterprise (for example a new enterprise on a larger than normal expanse of land with very few useful landmarks), there can be very little information presented in the Default View for someone to successfully pin where an issue occurred.
Thank you for your consideration!
