Proposal for Enhanced Inventory Management Feature in SC

Alan Pisani

Hi

I wanted to share an idea for an enhancement to our inventory management system within SC that could significantly improve our operations and efficiency.

Proposed Feature: Store-Based Inventory Management

I propose creating a new section within SC that operates similarly to the existing Asset + Site feature. The central concept is to introduce a “Store” feature where we can:

  1. Define Stores: Designate specific store locations where we can manage spare parts inventory.
  2. Categorize Parts: Organize spare parts within each store, making it easier to locate and manage inventory.
  3. Issuance to Assets/Sites: Enable seamless issuing of parts from these stores to either existing sites or assets within SC.
  4. Inventory Tracking: Allow real-time visibility of stock levels and usage analytics, capturing all parts issued during work orders for comprehensive reporting.

This enhancement would provide significant benefits:

  • Increased Visibility: We would have better oversight of inventory levels across multiple stores.
  • Streamlined Work Orders: Capturing work carried out along with the parts used would improve our maintenance and operational records.
  • Efficient Stock Management: Enhanced tracking could lead to better inventory practices and cost savings.

I believe that with the right design and integration, this feature can significantly enhance our inventory management capabilities. I would love to gather your thoughts on this proposal.

Looking forward to your feedback and suggestions!

Alan

Hi @Alan Pisani

One of my clients has just raised the same idea and I do think this would be useful for a lot of clients!

For a lot of things, I can usually find a workaround, but I can’t think of one for this.

@Bianca.Taylor - Do you think this is possible?
