Potential Training improvement
o SC training is in place and whether this is for full SC learning or a compressed form of TBTs and SOPsor Safe Systems of Work, we have a training item / lesson / course.
What would be excellent and very innovative would be as follows...
- The lesson / course is published with a specified auto review applied.
- This can be generated by the system at publishing to state when the course is to be reviewed
Examples
- monthly
- Quarterly
- Annually
At this point at publishing a date or period is then selected as the review for the course.
So set within the system.
The sequence then would be that the Author or designated reviewers get an automated message etc where they complete a simple section to say reviewed and this is date stamped / recorded etc.
Then there are 2 options.
- No changes
- Amendments required
If option 2 chosen then the change is recorded and amendments made for the course.
The above is recorded and then the course are controlled.

MAJOR IMPROVEMENT
When a course is initially and successfully completed then the person receivers a certificate.
This is already in place.
However what would be really good would be as follows...
- Person completes course
- Certificate available
- *Brain boost applied by author.
- Person receives automated brain boosts at a set period that have more questions.
- If they successfully get above an indicated pass score.
- Then the certificate is updated to state refresher and brain boost completed
- Then the system is set up so that auto refreshers are in pkace
- The certificate is updated.
- Training record for the said course also recorded against the individuals
- Records available on the system including ongoing updated certificates.
- Latest certificate is available and previous also available.
- This then creates a training record and updated certificates
- This is linked then to the inspection process by validating the person possesses a certificates of completion and this is in date.
- Also worth noting that for each course there must be an option for evidence or a link to a practical as learning is awareness only
- Any practical assessment is then made available and date to be completed is added.
- The practical could be an onsite assessment of the person undertaking work in a compliant manner linked to the course etc
The above or a similar approach would be excellent for compliance and ongoing validation and training as well as communications
This would enhance accreditations.
The only missing part of the system within all of the above are all the operatives and contractors which in my industry would account for approx 95% of personnel.
So if we can apply the above to the so far missing 95% then we can communicate trainings, TBTs and SOPs etc to the 95% we are currently missing hence a massive catchment pool and also proof of communication and interaction as a company.
The method of getting certification ongoing and updated for this group of operatives / contractors / personnel is then key.
As it unlock the area we need most
Front line workers.
So when we then use SC for inspections, issues, training and heads ups etc we can see if it is working for these groups with evidence.
This would also link into the potential Risk Assessment and SOPS acceptance by those individuals and furthermore at the point or a Near Miss of HiPo scenario (high potential near miss)
Then we can link this to Incidents (as per the previous posts)
Then we start to link all the loading indicators with proof against any lagging ones (near misses and actions)
