Link existing actions to issues

For context, we use Issues as a means of reporting an issue/failure, then make an action of that issue to assign someone to resolve it.

When completing an inspection, if something fails we raise an action to have someone look at the failure (until we can make issues in inspection, hurry up SC ;) ). If they can’t fix the failure at the time, we’ll raise an issue. This is so the open issues reflects the current failures/problems.

As the action was made first from inside an inspection, it’s not linked to the issue. If we could have the ability to link existing actions to issues, this would make the workflow a lot cleaner and help with out current reporting process

Alternately, opening an issue from an action. But if both are open and need linking, being able to do this would be great

This functionality would also be useful for when team members have accidentally created a new action directly instead of creating it from within the issue. even if this was only changeable by an admin it would be greatly beneficial.

currently when this happens i get my team to recreate the action from the issue and i delete their original action.

Interesting way to use the system.

The way we use it is different where we do it the opposite way.

The action side for us is basically the start of a non-compliance procedure where we add tags and labels.

The issues side is where we have personnel at the coal face seeing things and reporting etc.

I do not feel your recommendation is incorrect but I would go with one or the other...

The advantage of having it as an action is that it can be done from inside or outside an inspection.

Plus you can add specific labels that can be sorted and reviewed by the labels.

So by raising an action and giving it a label you can start by having a label called... FAILURE.

Hope this maybe of help...
