Users only for Credentials

Are we able to add credentials to non users of Safety Culture? Currently when you upload a credential it can only be linked to a current user (required). For example there is no option to add a forklift licence of an employee that is not a user of Safety culture. I figure all employees are valued assets to a company, and yet we can add unlimited amount of assets to safety culture. It would be good to have an option for name not just user.

Thanks so much for your question and for trying out our new Credentials functionality. I’m Bec, the Product Manager for this part of the platform. 

 

Currently our plans are to only support credentials associated with users. This is because we have future plans for how we can integrate this information into the platform further which requires a user to hold the information associated with them. However, credentials are available for all seat types so if you’re on a paid plan you can add as many guest users as you’d like and store credentials against them meaning there’s no additional cost to add these users and associate credentials with them. 

Should you wish to deactivate them at any time the credentials associated with those users prior to their deactivation will remain on their profile and can be included in all reporting.

What are the plans?

As you can imagine lots of customers are probably like we are.

 

Looking at SC as an area for proving competence.

 

I may be wrong but I think what @batkins was referring to could be the following.

Contractor Competence or proof they can not only undertake the job based on training but have other evidence that can then assist in gauging external personnel or contractors in your supply chain.

 

In construction the turnover of staff i s immense and this is not just a UK issue. 

We need a system that fit with the 

  • PLAN
  • DO
  • CHECK
  • ACT

Philosophy of getting the pre planning correct and having a system that can be live and reactive.

This is what I am looking for and wanting SC to do in the year to come.

 

If we use an upside down approach.

This could be 5 Whys as a root analysis tool.

Something has not goe to plan and this means the output therefore affects our company and brand.

 

When we go back through the forensics cycle to understand where the breach / error or output occurred that led to the issue or loss what we normally find is a human factor.

 

So i took 5 mins to put together a very basic flow of what I am heading towards.

Simple Flow relating to internal and external competence

This is aimed at all personnel and must have the ability to somehow include contractors or outside influence where required.

This then becomes inclusive and will assist in learning from events and will improve the robustness of the systems used.

It will also over time improve the culture of the individuals who undertake work on sites.

Relates to Quality, Safety and Environment and linked to other factors internally to achieve Right First Time, Everytime.

It would be useful to have both possibilities:

  • credentials linked to users: useful with passport feature on mobile
  • credentials unlined from users (not mandatory to fill the item): e.g. for only HR department to monitor trainings and certificates
