Hi,

Extremely happy to have early access to the lone worker feature.

I have jumped straight into it and have a few comments.

  • Escalations - It would be helpful to be able to escalate to a group and not just a user to receive alert
  • Panic button - When I tested it and then pressed false alarm, it closed out the lone working job. It would be good if you could just continue on with the lone working for any false alarms triggered part way through a job
  • Panic alert. It does not trigger a text message. An alert came up in notifications via web browser. It would be great if the notification linked straight to the specific lone working as with other notifications

Hey Andrew,

Some great points here. Hope you’re enjoying early access.

  1. This is a fair point. I assume there could be existing Groups of Front Line Managers who you’d like to assign to receive alerts in this situation, rather than selecting the individual managers one at a time. We’ll look into this @Ryan Clement
  2. We’ve heard this a bit from some early access customers. Will look at options here. Perhaps the ability to ‘continue/resume’ alongside ‘Done’ and ‘New Job’.
  3. Is your mobile phone number validated under ‘My Profile’ → ‘Settings’? This is a prerequisite. We have tested and this functionality does work when the phone number is validated. When you say ‘It would be great if the notification linked straight to the specific lone working as with other notifications’ - can you elaborate? Would you want a link as a manager to open the specific job within the web platform?

Appreciate the feedback.

Hi Nick,

My number is validated.  I receive notifications for other features. I imagine it is because I triggered the alert on my own phone. I will get one of the test pilots to trigger the panic button.

For the notifications, I mean linking straight to the specific job. It would just save a little time finding it.

I see - inside the Notifications tab you’d like it to link straight to the job. Great feedback.

If you’re set up to receive the duress alerts for the Group, you should have received a notification (via SMS/Email depending on configuration). I’m happy to jump into your account and take a look if you’d like. It sounds like it is to do with configuration.

thanks Nick.

Feel free to jump in.

I have asked one of our delivery managers to activate the panic alert to see what happens.

Hi @Nick Brown

A colleague set the panic alarm off.  An email came through but nothing to my phone. In the notifications list, there is nothing listed for lone working

Hi @Nick Brown

Sorry to send so many messages. Maybe I should store everything up and send in bulk.

Something else I have picked up. A user starts a lone working job but nothing actually shows until they check in. To get around this, I have asked the test pilots to submit and initial check in when they start a lone worker job.

But it would be nice if they popped up as soon as they started a new job

If you’re set up to receive alerts for the Group that you are in, it should be coming through. If you’re not receiving alerts via SMS or Email, then it tells me you’re not set up to receive alerts in this Group and might need to adjust in ‘Escalations’.

This is interesting - it is not the same in my experience. I’ll have our team look into your account and try to understand why this might be happening. The joys of early access :)

But, after just one day, even though early access, it is already proving to be an invaluable feature.

@Andrew Gabb @Nick Brown This was a good read, I have some other points to raise if that’s OK?

  1. When starting a lone working activity, is it in the rollout to allow a form to be presented and populated to the user? This has worked well on other lone worker apps, for example a generic risk assessment depending on job type.
  2. I can’t find this feature myself, but please point me in the right direction if it does exist! A breadcrumb map of the movements of a user? I can see the position updates individually but it’s very useful to have an overall journey map.

Thank you!

Hi @HarryGould,

It doesn’t link to templates but it is going to worth its weight in gold.

One other thing that we are trialling is the integration of Samsara, our telematics platform. Although early days, it is showing that it may well be a great benefit.

Hi @HarryGould,

Thanks for this quality feedback. We’ll be releasing an integration between inspections and lone worker later this year following release, where you’ll be able to ‘tag’ a template to a lone working job, requiring the user to complete this before starting lone worker. Longer term, we’ll hope to have this working the other way too - a certain template will be tagged as ‘lone working’ so when a team member begins the inspection they’ll be prompted to begin a lone working job too. Interested to hear thoughts here.

We were discussing breadcrumb trails last night - you should see this in our early April release for both live jobs and historical events.

Interested to hear whether it would be valuable to be able to see your lone workers and fleet vehicles on the same map @Andrew Gabb - an ability to toggle between, or see both.

Amazing, glad to hear that templates will be integrated later in the year. We use the app for our lone worker surveyors and ask them to fill out a generic risk assessment form before they can start the activity.

I like the other option too and that would mean only doing one thing rather than two, which will be a time saver and reduce the risk that someone will forget to start a lone worker activity!

Great news about the breadcrumb map, it’s really useful for our company to follow routes of surveyors when we have client queries about certain areas of jobs.

Thank you for the quick response!

Hi @Nick Brown

Absolutely, it would be great to see lone workers and vehicles on the same map.

I read you response to @HarryGould. Regarding a template being associated with lone working, I don’t think I would use it.

At this point, I have asked all lone working to start as soon as the get into their vehicles. Following this process, the lone working is already underway by the time they get to site and start an inspection.

Driving is one of our companies greatest risks so to have this additional buffer is a really positive step.
