As we consider using SC Training as our LMS, we have imported a lot of courses from the public library. This has revealed a problem that the list of courses is extremely cluttered. There is currently no way to find batches of courses if they don’t contain the same keyword in the title, to work with the current search feature.
A feature to assign “categories” to training (with multi-select) would be ideal. This would be similar to template folders, but not necessarily static where you can only have one folder. For example, I may want to assign “Slips, trips and falls” course to a “Safety” category and to a “Site Courses” category. This would make it show up in both if I were to filter by category. The Safety category would show me all safety courses I’ve tagged as such, but the Site Courses would show me all courses available to operations sites which could include a variety of topics beyond just safety.

Thanks for the feedback! We have a feature called course collections available under early access. You can use course collections to organise courses into categories in the admin portal. Would you like me to turn this feature on for you?
What you have described about a course belonging to multiple categories is more akin to tagging. Although this isn’t on the immediate roadmap, I think it makes sense for us to move in this direction in the future. Are the categories only something you would expect to display on the admin side?

Initially, I was thinking only administrators need to see courses in collections, but as our library grows, I would imagine our users would too (both trainers and trainees). Perhaps there is a toggle on the page to show with or without categories in case you just want to see everything.

We also have a feature called paths that you can use to guide workers through a sequence of courses. You can add a course to multiple paths. Here is an article if you would like to learn more: https://help.safetyculture.com/en-US/003707/
I use course collections but also thing that Paths is also available and will assist in the learning process.
There is however the chance to expand further with this in being able to export a list of all courses and collection etc including last review and publish as this would give a very quick over for examining etc as you start to build the structure of the courses, collections and everything linked to SC training.

We want to build these not as eLearning but more to assist in things as we develop the business.
These guides would be for learning event to explain how we do things correctly and the step for certain tasks.
This could be a Safe Working Procedure or JSA. It could be a way to show other persons the correct way to undertake a task.
I would like to see this develop more and welcome some feedback if this already exists as it will help with Practical assessments that are already part of SC training.
The reason these will assist is that in very busy work environments we all have lots of tasks to do.
Sometimes when we go back to a task that we have not done for some time this may be slightly awkward or we may have forgotten.
That is where i think guides will compliment SC training and our staff / others

We built a SharePoint site to house all of our OEM manuals, troubleshooting guides, videos, etc. which is essentially a knowledgebase repository and resource for training course materials. The vision was to also have this available at equipment when someone needs information or a quick “how to.” My vision has been that SafetyCulture would integrate Documents and Training. Resources in Documents would be able to have “virtual” pointers to create unlimited folder structures for each file to live in so you can sort/search by location, OEM, equipment type, or topic. It would also include resources used in Instruction fields within templates (pick from the Documents library or upload in the template and it is added to Documents). Then in Training, we would be able to add this content as a “after training additional resources” (i.e., EdApp briefcase) or as a lesson/slide as part of the course itself. These files could then be used in various ways across the platform.
Sound great - but…
In our industry we are finding that personnel in construction seem to struggle with Onedrive - Sharepoint and Office 365 irrespective of how simple we make it.
I naturally think that with Edapps becoming SC Training the logic that is on the platform that my query is something that ties into the full cycle of the system.
I think it will all fall into the PLAN DO CHECK ACT process of HSG 65.
With the addition of training and then the golden egg of Competence within the system.
I also think like you have said before it depends on the company, their systems, area of work, industry and many other things.
So if it isn't broke don't try to fix it.

This is exactly what we are aiming to address in SC Training and Documents in the coming months.
Many customers have expressed a need to manage their SOPs, procedures, and policies through Training, and we're focused on integrating this seamlessly with Documents.
Our goal is to provide a simple and efficient way for users to create training guides for SOPs / SWPs / Work instructions that link directly to the source document, whether embedded in a slide or via a link to the briefcase. All documents will be stored in Documents with version control and organized folder structures.
These training guides will be easily accessible through QR codes on equipment, and can include acknowledgment or signature slides, competency checks (quizzes), and where necessary, practical assessments for competency verification.
We’re looking at developing course templates for best in class guides or training for SOP / SWPs / Work Instructions as well as templates for verification of competency to make it easier for users to get started. Eventually we hope that our AI Document Converter will be able to transform a file that has been uploaded in Documents into complete guides or training within seconds.
We're excited about these developments and would love to hear your thoughts or any additional feedback as we move forward.
