Hi SafetyCulture Team,

I would love it if we could have some kind of toggle for Assets to show they’re on site or off site. Is there any possibility to have the tracking functionality switched off when an Asset is toggled to off site?

The reason I ask is that we deal with a lot of Contractors equipment that we are adding to the Asset function to enable tracking of inspections etc. and position although we don’t want this function when an Asset has left site. I’m not sure if this is possible or is already available? I haven’t seen it anywhere so I thought I would make the suggestion.

Kind Regards

James

Hi @James F

Are you are referring here to assets with GPS tracking connected to them?

Cheers,

Duncan

@James F - Not ideal, but I have two workarounds I have used for some of my clients.

  1. We have built a check-in / check-out template which is linked to the asset and installed NFC tags. It relies on operatives using these forms when they take something from storage and then using the check-in form when they have returned it. If they don’t check something back in then at least you can see who last checked it out. A bit of a culture / training activity.
  2. For my clients who hire equipment, we have used the issues area. When they hire something they scan the “Hired Equipment” issues QR code and input who they hired it from, what it is, upload LOLER certs, etc. Once they off-hire it they can update the “issue” to resolved. I allows management to see what they hired and how long things are being hired for.
