Recently I have been trying to use the new feature of the number → calculation. I found that unless there is a numerical value in each reference question the answer results in an error.

The reason I came across this was I was using a formula based on the result of a logic response and then from there was planning on summing all of the good, bad and ugly. As not each question resulted in a logic that equalled ‘good’ then the sum of all good resulted in an “Incomplete Formula” error.

If each number question had a base value of 0 unless a number was entered then this would fix this issue.

Hi @Jonathang thanks for reaching out and it’s cool to hear you have discovered the new auto calculation feature.

You are spot on that, in order to complete these formulas during the inspection a you would need to enter a 0 for those questions you mentioned to complete the formula. Your idea about having a ‘default value’ if left blank is something a number of customers have raised in it’s a feature we will likely investigate further in the future.

We are also close to releasing another improvement to the calculations feature, i.e being able to apply logic conditions to automatically calculated results, so keep an eye for that.

All the best,

Paddy

I have been running into the same issue

In two of my templates I add 32

different responses of two groups, one group is “dry” products, the other is “liquid” products.

My question in the template for each area is “does it have liquid and dry products, if the answer is No they still need to enter a 0, otherwise my calculation link of the total is not working.

During the Better event in Nashville it was mentioned that calculations had Excel features, the only thing you can do is add, subtract, multiply, divide and exponent.

It would be great to have a SUM: feature in calculations.

Could look something like “SUM $ Dry Products

Hey @JJV ! I have checked in with the team for an update on support of zero values. They currently reviewing where developments stand within calculations and I should have more information to share by later next week. Thanks in advance for your patience!

In regard to supporting SUM in calculations, this is also something I should be able to speak to next week. That said, I encourage you to submit this as an idea so yourself and the rest of the Community can easily track development progress 😊
