SDS access, within Safety Culture

Many of the other EHS platforms are including SDS access and a sortable “company” SDS file that can be downloaded to be available when connectivity is an issue.  The ability to select a language for looking up a specific SDS an be the difference between and incident and ACCIDENT or worse.

Are there any plans to include this type of feature outside of downloading individual SDS’s as Docs?

It would be ambitious to build this type of a feature, but it does make sense to integrate it.  Having it in the same app that is becoming more and more our employees’ primary “home” would be more likely they would properly manage and view SDS.

Our current system is very well known worldwide, but user management and administration is a bit clunky.  Most important is to have the ability to have any site add a chemical’s SDS to their site library, and if another site has the same chemical, they too can “attach” it to their site’s library.  And also very important is to keep them up to date with the latest version as they are updated by the manufacturer, but also have the ability for manually uploading SDS in case the vendor isn’t in the system.  Our current SDS vendor allows for all of this.

Thanks Corey,

In the US it is mandatory to have SDS available for employee access. I work in construction, so your sites are decentralized and SDS vary from site to site.  We used to print out our “hazardous” SDS but now regulations require all materials on site to have SDS available.  To add to the situation, we need Spanish's language whenever possible.   More and more of our crews are primarily Spanish's speaking.

Hey Garett, Corey. This is a great observation and one we’re actively looking into at SC, as we consider features that allow us to more fully serve the safety space.

We haven’t committed to any specific timeframe on this yet, but we’ll keep you posted on this!
