Would love the ability to toggle if an action requires media to close per action rather than a blanket yes or no across all actions. We are using actions not just for specific physical tasks where media required to complete is perfect, but also as discussion points where media to complete makes no sense.

All we have found is the ability to change this option for all actions, unless there is an option we are missing, would love to be able to toggle this so that when an action is created for a specific point in a inspection template, we can dictate if it requires media or not.

Hi Matt! Fantastic idea and question. Unfortunately there is currently not a global way to require media depending on the action type. Great feedback. Posts like this will only improve SafetyCulture for the better.

Although this won’t solve completed actions with required media...if you require a photo for a question, that picture will appear on the action that stemmed from an inspection at the time it was created.

Hey @Matt19Fuller

Thank you for flagging this with the team.

I love to hear the differing ways your using Actions within the SafetyCulture platform.

The Actions settings are very powerful but they are a global setting and it sounds like your team would benefit from a little more flexibility.

Would this differ per team or site in your organisation or purely on the type of question in the inspection?

Hi James,

It would mostly be tied to the type of question in the inspection, as @nicholasmccarthy mentioned above, I believe we will update the questions themselves to require media if the response that currently causes an action occurs. Hopefully this first photo will prompt the assigned user to include a photo during completing.

Appreciate the responses!

Hey @Matt19Fuller! We have the require evidence” functionality available to combat this. Is this something that has helped resolve this pain-point for you? If not, are you able to elaborate on what else you’d like to see implemented? Thanks!

Hi @Bianca.Taylor ,

The issue we are facing is more than the options for requiring evidence is linked to status changes globally. On some actions I want to use the requirement for evidence to close the action, but on other actions I do not want to require evidence.

We have implemented the workaround noted above, but it is not perfect as it requires the staff to recognise that we want a photo when closing the action without it being a requirement.
