Is there anyway to reply back to anyone that sends in an issue to automatically receive progression updates, or sent and automatic reply to say the work has been completed.
This is a setting the user themselves have to turn on in their Notification Settings. If you look at the attached photo, users can turn on and off notifications for Issues they have created.

If an issue is submitted via a QR code, and therefore not attached to an account, I don’t think there is a way to notify them. I just make it a habit of going and speaking with the team member.
