Assets.

 

Starting to work really well.

However 1 area where this fails is the synergy to work with our supply partners.

 

Unless they can access our account they cannot see the QR code info for the asset and information such as documents, inspections and so on.

 

We have an excellent Supply Chain Partnership and would like (if not already available) to have asset info in view format for other parties that scan the QR Code.

Otherwise we are still at the paper and scafftag area of the loop and we want to be further down the line.

Current scenario for some access equipment and powered plant…

Cons.

  • Lots to sign
  • Lots to get wrong
  • Name errors
  • Deciphering someone's writing
  • Who actually checked with evidence (no live images)

Pros

  1. For an auditor i want a better system - that is more cost effective with the QR code / NFC tags or similar.
  2. I want the person inspecting to following a check guide but also to provide live images - time stamped / geo etc also.
  3. I want the auditor to be able not only to scan a QR code to see the item but also the history, certificates, actions etc.
  4. Faster, Transparent and allows simpler analysis and trending of the assets integrity and performance
  5. Can link in SC system to trained users...(SC Training or similar)

 

I want the customer or 3rd parties to be able to scan and see a view only portion of the above so they have faith in the smarter more intuitive system that is NOT A TICK BOX one.


Can I please ask the following…

 

  • Can this be reviewed as something to release as part of assets?
  • If already in place in some shape or form, can someone explain how we do this?

Thanks for the feedback. This comes up from time to time. 

 

For this scenario, are you comfortable with a solution that opens up the asset’s information to anyone who scans the QR code? Meaning all the asset’s information, past inspections, actions, detail fields and media is accessible to anyone walking past with a mobile device?

 

One of challenges here is we’re not just talking about Asset access. The asset’s profile collects information about that asset from other parts of the system - like inspections, actions, documents etc. To make these things available, those actions and inspection also need to give external access, because what you see on the asset profile, depends on your access to those other areas too.

For example, if you don’t have access to a certain inspection template, when that inspection is done on the asset, when you go to the asset profile you won’t see that inspection, but a user who does have access to that template will see it. 

 

Trying to configure all this to be available to users outside the app without creating a whole chain of other problems isn’t an easy fix. It is something we want to consider in the future about how to make it possible, but for now the quickest solution is to make those auditors free users and limit their access to parts of the system that is relevant to them. Their ability to do things in the system will be limited, but then they can still see assets. It isn’t perfect, but it might help you in the short term.

 

Another question for you, what did you mean by this?

Is there any way to try and link this with certain customers in the Companies area?

So that the delegated Managers can view via QR code.


The view ability can then be aimed at companies where we then add them to a group and they can scan and see contents from the Assets.

The current way to use external personnel is by email etc and sending links to them.

 

So when they want to look at the info they are firstly seeing a view screen only, where it show the asset and inspection related info.

 

Similar to the Companies having access to update documents. We want them to be able to view our assets by scanning then and then seeing other relevant info.

 

At the moment the main contractor who we sub-contract to, cannot see our items when / or if they scan the QR code.

Just want to find a viable way so that they can see these that's all as this helps with a our supply chain management and collaboration.

With regards to SC training. This was again about accessing the training function for delegated company managers. Or to see if this is going to be available in some capacity?

Where we can send them access to either courses or something similar.

Just and update.

The issue here is as follows based on what we are trying to achieve with our main contractors (we are subbies to them)

 

  • I have just given full access (premium license etc to try this) 
  • I add the license to the person.
  • They are added to a group.
  • That group is only able to complete inspections on certain templates.

 

When i have added initially it looked good as there was visibility on assets (Ref scanning the QR code).

However the asset they can see is limited because they need to be a member of a site.
When we then add them to a site this then gives them more access then we would like.

Example they can see all inspections related to the site but more an issue for our Org is that they would also be able to see all of the actions.. 

 

I am sure there is a way around this but at the moment i am struggling and just wondered if this lies within the user type or permission sets somewhere.

 

Again- the reason i have been asked this is that we have Main Contractors - Whos site we are undertaking Work, wanting to scan the QR Code to see that the asset info is correct and we are indeed compliant with certs , and inspections???

Any feedback would be great or further ideas to make this option possible.
